Specific questions regarding the planning, application, installation

of Lifttrax mats.

Please request information regarding the approval process separately from us.

  • Can the mats remain in place all year round?

Yes. The mats can be left in place year-round in areas such as elevator entrances, exits, transfer zones, bridges, or tunnels. The mats do not rot, and due to their high UV pigmentation, only a slight fading of the mats appears after many years.

  • Are there differences in the mats for the lift zones?

Yes. Ski lifts can choose between two types: LiftTrax FA are preferred by ski lifts to allow skiers to move slowly from the starting gate to the lift entrance. LiftTrax SP are stiffer and have the advantage that skiers can glide quickly to the lift entrance. This also allows for a fast glide onto the slope when exiting the lift.

  • Why are mats so important when exiting the ski lift?

Many chairlifts have their mountain stations at summit stations, where strong winds blow in bad weather. These winds sweep the disembarkation area clear of snow. This creates a snow-free area from the lift exit (usually made of smooth wood) to the start of the slope, which service personnel have to manually clear with shovels each time. When LiftTrax mats are laid out, the snow stays between the diamond-shaped mats, and the skier can glide smoothly onto the slope.

  • How are the mats cleaned?

After the winter season ends, vacuum the mats to remove all dirt and stones. To remove any remaining dirt, rinse the mats thoroughly with a pressure washer.

  • Can the area be equipped with colored mats?

Yes. Either during installation or afterwards. The mats can be replaced quickly thanks to the simple plug-in/plug-out system.

  • Can the mats also be used for the ski lift track?

Yes. The mats are laid out in the desired width (approx. 1.50m) and length of the lift. The mats can be laid out temporarily for the winter. Over the summer, the mats are stored and reinstalled on the lift track in the autumn.
